Spoof the Watchtower Contest?
by Ding inwe have seen time and again how the gb comes up with a strange doctrine (such as not celebrating birthdays) by citing something in the bible (the beheading of john the baptist) and then claiming that the "connection" makes their teaching "biblical.".
this got me thinking about how easy and fun it might be to create any "bible teaching" by this type of specious reasoning.. i thought it might be fun to have a jwn contest to see who can come up with the most watchtower-sounding rationale for a screwy doctrine of their own creation.. in another thread, i wrote a short satire on how the gb could come up with a "biblical reason" for preventing jws from going bowling by noting that 10 is an important bible number and then saying that knocking down 10 pins symbolizes breaking each of the ten commandments.. if i had wanted to expand that nonsense into a watchtower-style article, i would have gone on to explain the importance of the ten commandments and then spend several paragraphs denouncing all the evils of lawlessness, culminating with paul's warning about the "man of lawlessness" in 2 thessalonians 2:3. at the end of this exercise, i would have readers worked into a frenzy about the evils of bowling.. does anyone doubt that if the wts actually did this, jws would immediately stop bowling and start looking down on worldlies who do it?.
can't you just imagine a watchtower study where jws dutifully answer questions explaining why bowling is so displeasing to god?.

We're having a quiet day. we took a walk in the cold which is different since we just moved here two months ago from a hot climate and it suppose to snow later today.
we plan to eat out later at a deli thats open today have a couple of beers some cornbeef and chopped chicken livers crinkle fries and than rent a pay per view movie.

Ladies, be careful what you send us guys out for...
by Jim_TX inso this morning, i was out and about.. the wife tells me to bring home a couple of christmas stockings to hang, so that we can put our small goodies in them.
(we have some already, but they're in storage, and we don't feel like digging through several storage boxes just to find them.).
all the places have very little left, and people are madly buying up what is left.. .

Could you ever go back?
by MrFreeze innot that i'm thinking about it, even for a brief nano-second, but something i have thought about is this, is there any way you could go back and not have people look at you with the stink eye?
after admitting your true feelings, how in the world could people ever look at you the same?
if you were in the situation of welcoming someone back, would you be able to look past the errors?

I've been thinking more on this and to return even to only sit there is to give them your energy and support. They are an evil and dangerous organization and i no matter what I had to sacrifice will never give them anything because they continue to hurt people.
i could not in good conscience go to a door and tell someone this is truth it's like setting someone up to be beaten and robbed and maybe murdered.
Many choose to return for their family I don't think thats wise I know it hurts deeply but to go back allows them to continue to rob others of their family and friends and does not accelerate their demise.

The stupid current Governing Body
by possible-san inin my forum, an active japanese jw (my friend) taught me what he studied in the meeting recently.. that is the meeting on sunday (12/19) a few days ago.. in the material they studied on that day, it is written like this.. "the greek word translated honor in the bible conveys the sense of esteem, value, preciousness.
(luke 14:10).
yes, those we honor are precious, valuable to us.".

I think one of the problems for xjw's is that somehow the organization convinced us that it was possible to escape death and we felt like we had been on death row and got a last minute pardon.
The truth is we will all die and everything that is currently alive on this planet will. thats it and our immediate reaction is "that doesn't please me" so what do we do about it "I don't know"
We do have to remember that something is going on here that we don't understand so I wouldn't be so quick to think its a total end or that we won't see people we care about again just for whatever look up near death experience it's interesting. enjoy the time you have listen to happy songs not "seasons in the sun" that song is too much

The reason I became a witness was that i thought I had found some answers to the meaning of life only to find it was another dead end. The whole thing is such a deception I don't care what the cost i have no desire to return to that vomit.
My conscience started beating me at the hall as i realized it was a lie and I have to live by what i think is right I can't go to someones door knowing I.m misleading them.
I cared about many of the people there but until they break free any relationship with them is impossible. I will burn the bridge behind me if I have to.
